Cobb, Dill and Hammett, LLC is seeking a friendly and motivated Personal Injury Paralegal for our North Charleston office.

Summary:  The Personal Injury Paralegal will be responsible for providing support to the Personal Injury Team alongside existing support staff. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establishing personal injury claims with insurers and organizing and maintaining case files;
  • Gathering accident reports, driving records, criminal records and drafting demand letters Scheduling meetings, depositions, court appearances and key litigation deadlines; 
  • Drafting pleadings, discovery requests and responses and filing documents with various courts Interacting well with team members;
  • Perform clerical duties such as typing and filing to the extent required to produce work product or assure proper organization of case files;
  • Utilize client management software on a daily basis; 
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, etc. in a professional manner;
  • Build and maintain new and existing client files;
  • Maintain operating systems, such as client software, calendars, etc.;
  • Assist in drafting legal documents and correspondence.;
  • File legal documents in the appropriate court;
  • Obtaining and review of medical records;
  • Complete assignments as requested in a timely fashion;
  • Remain flexible and open to requests for support or assistance outside the scope this job description and to other duties as directed by Attorneys.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:  

  • Previous work experience in a legal or professional setting is preferred;
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with a diverse group of attorneys, staff, and clients; 
  • Demonstrate organizational, prioritization, and attention to detail skills to allow for timely, effective, and accurate performance of job duties;
  • Ability to demonstrate impeccable integrity in confidential matters;  
  • Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Previous experience in fast-paced, high-pressure environment preferred;
  • Ability to manage various projects and anticipate support needs of Attorneys.
