CHSA Law, LLC Fighting
for Your Rights in Landrum, SC

When an accident comes without warning, even the most prepared person can fall victim. One moment, you're walking to a restaurant after a long day of work. The next moment, someone else's negligence and carelessness change your life forever. Personal injury victims aren't just the victims of negligence they suffer from pain, concern over family and ability to work. Often, these victims do not have the luxury of worrying about work and family, because they're clinging to life in an ER. Without a personal injury attorney in Landrum, SC, by their side, they mistakenly provide official statements to insurance agencies and accept settlement offers that only account for a fraction of what they have lost.

If you have recently been hurt in an accident, you may be asking questions like:

  • "What happens now?"
  • "How will I pay for my hospital bills?"
  • "Will I get fired from my job?"
  • "Will I be able to function independently ever again?"

With more than 100,000 car accidents in South Carolina every year, we hear these questions every day. Our hearts hurt for those who are suffering due to no fault of their own. Accident victims are not only left with questions like those above; they're also forced to deal with costs associated with medical bills, car repair, follow-up appointments, and loss of income.

While reading these facts can be bleak, there is a silver lining. South Carolina law dictates that those who are found responsible for your pain and suffering may be obligated to pay for your expenses. CHSA Law, LLC exists for that exact reason to make sure that negligent parties are held accountable. We fight on your behalf to make sure you get the compensation you deserve. We aren't afraid to go toe-to-toe with greedy insurance agencies who do not have your best interests at heart.

Our overarching goal is to protect your rights, and our law firm is uniquely positioned to do so, with attorney Michael Dill‘s vast experience in the auto insurance industry.

When You Need It Most

As such, personal injury victims are entitled to receive a financial reward that equals those damages.

What Our Clients Say

The Role of Negligence in Your
Landrum Personal Injury Case

If there were one common truth that we can count on, it's that life is unpredictable. Sometimes, accidents just happen. However, when recklessness and negligence come into play in situations where accidents cause personal injuries, the negligent party can be held responsible under South Carolina law. For victims to have a chance at compensation, the party responsible for the accident must be proven to be negligent. When a party or parties are negligent, they fail to take appropriate care when performing an action, like driving an automobile.

 Car Accident Attorney Landrum, SC
At CHSA Law, LLC, our team works to prove negligence
for our clients by proving:
  • The defendant had an obligation to look out for your safety.
  • The defendant did not uphold that duty.
  • There was causation between the defendant's breach of duty and the injuries you sustained.
  • You suffered real damages.

After an accident occurs, it is critical to take certain steps to help prove the responsible party's negligence and maximize the compensation you rightly deserve.

Steps to Maximize Compensation
After an Accident in Landrum, SC

All too often, car wreck victims don't get the compensation they need because they failed to take the proper steps after their accident. Don't let this be you. By having comprehensive records of your car accident and its aftermath, you have a much better chance of protecting your rights and maximizing compensation for your bills and injuries. If you have been injured in an automobile accident in Landrum, follow these steps before doing anything else:

1.

Go to a Doctor

First and foremost, seek medical attention for any injuries that you have sustained. You might not realize it now, but your injuries may be more complex and serious than you think. Damage like head trauma and back injuries are not easy to diagnose on your own and sometimes take time to surface. A full medical examination will help reveal the extent of your injuries, lead to a quicker recovery, and help document the injuries you sustained. This last part is essential to prove the significance of your injuries.

2.

File an
Accident Report

The second step you should take is to report your injuries to the correct authorities. The authorities change depending on the circumstances of your accident. If you were involved in a car wreck in Landrum, you should file your report with the highway authorities and any associated insurance agencies. Regardless of where you were injured and how the wreck occurred, the biggest takeaway here is to file a report. That way, you have an established, official record of the incident that can be referred to down the line.

3.

Preserve Evidence
if Possible

Personal injury cases in Landrum are won with evidence. It might sound like the job of the police, but it's important that you try to secure any evidence that you can collect relating to your accident, especially if you are injured. Evidence in auto accident cases tends to disappear quickly. By preserving evidence soon after the accident, it can be used in court. For example, if you cannot get a witness statement immediately after your wreck, their testimony may come across as less reliable. Completing this task on your own can be quite difficult, especially after a serious accident. That's why it's so crucial to complete the last step below.

Timeline updated after delays

LANDRUM–The Stubborn Mule Brewery now has an opening timeframe. After a series of delays the brewery and restaurant is now set to open in Landrum during the fall of this year.

Since buying the building in 2022, Tom Quantrille and his wife have seen their share of disruptions as they’ve tried to launch the business.

In addition to the challenges of refurbishing an older building into a brewery and restaurant, the couple has also faced financing issues. According to Quantrille, financing was delayed when the original bank loan fell through.

“It was a total surprise and shock,” said Quantrille. “We had to find another lender. The financing added an additional four-month delay, but a new loan is in place and should be closed on shortly.”

All underground plumbing is now complete, but much still needs to be done. Electrical wiring, outdoor plumbing and the HVAC system all still need to be installed.

The Stubborn Mule plans to only serve their products at their brewery. Its focus will be on high-quality lagers and ales, as well as seasonal offerings. A small 3-barrel pilot operation will allow for specials and fun, new products.

Quantrille’s brother-in-law will act as head chef, and the brewery and restaurant will feature an everyday lunch and dinner menu that will include appetizers, soups and salads, and entrees like burgers, chicken and fish. The dinner menu will include higher-scale entrees such as steaks, duck and crab cakes.

Plans also include a 2,000-square-foot covered patio that will feature music during the warmer months, where customers can enjoy their food and beverage on the lawn or under a covered roof, as well as lawn furniture and outdoor games.

“This will be a family-friendly place,” said Quantrille.

And for those curious, Quantrille explained the namesake of the upcoming brewery.

“Yes, we really do have a stubborn mule – her name is Rosie,” he said.

The Stubborn Mule is located at 501 N. Howard Ave. in Landrum.

Have you visited the quaint Stone Soup Cafe in Landrum, SC? The restaurant has beautiful comfortable seating indoors and out. We love the pretty garden-like setting outdoors, as well as the cozy and comfortable indoor seating. And, we loved the relaxed ambiance and friendly service. Here’s why you should add this spot to your list of great restaurants for a date night, or a relaxing meal out with friends and family.

Stone Soup Setting

From the minute you pull into the stone parking lot, after your drive down Main Street Landrum, you’ll feel like you’ve entered a little mini-vacation spot in the mountains. Surrounded by mature trees and pretty hanging lights you can choose to either dine indoors or out. Either way, you can enjoy a leisurely meal in a beautiful setting.

This place is the total opposite of busy city, downtown dining in loud buzzing restaurants. My husband and I have visited a couple of times for a date night, and each time is just as good, if not better, than the last.

Outdoors, and tables are set under shade awnings and a pavilion. There are both fans and heaters so the space can be enjoyed in a variety of weather. Indoors, cozy and comfortable tables are spread throughout a couple of smaller rooms of dining space with great big windows, allowing for easy conversation and a relaxed ambiance.

It is rather unusual for my husband and me, especially leaving the kids at home, to enjoy a drink, then an appetizer, a meal, and also stick around for coffee and dessert. But at Stone Soup we do because it was just that beautiful and relaxing. We probably spend an average of 2 hours on our date night meals Stone Soup. The service was wonderful and we never once felt rushed. In fact, our waitress suggested at the end of our meal that we just keep sipping our coffee and take our time.

Stone Soup Menu

All that and we haven’t yet discussed the food. The menu at Stone Soup includes a wide variety of wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, unique appetizers, and entrees, plus cocktails, and a small selection of the day’s desserts.

We ordered (and highly recommend) the Tuna Bites for an appetizer. It was gorgeous and delicious. The tuna bites are black sesame-crusted Rare Ahi Tuna, pickled ginger, wasabi cream, chopped red peppers, and green onions, on top of the lightest, crispiest wontons you’ve ever seen or tasted.

We ordered the tuna bites again on a second visit, and they were just as delicious!

For our meals, we’ve enjoyed sandwiches like their salmon BLT and a woodfired calzone. The bacon on that BLT was some of the thickest and tastiest I’ve had while the salmon was cooked perfectly. The calzone was massive and could have easily fed two people, which it didn’t because my husband loves calzones and ate the whole thing. It was just that good.

Dessert isn’t printed on the menu, but just ask your server for what they are offering that day. We intended to get one dessert and share it, but, on the day we went, they had both peanut butter pie and a chocolate flourless cake that may as well have been fudge. So, we got them both and we had no regrets.

Stone Soup Market

Stone Soup also carries a selection of housemade baked goods, deli salads, and specialty items that can be purchased in their market. They also have housemade frozen casseroles to pick up and bring home.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) – A Landrum High School teacher has been fired after a video began circulating on social media of him calling his students “trash Americans” and using a slur to describe them.

In the video, which began circulating on Facebook Wednesday afternoon, shows the teacher, who has not been identified by Spartanburg One, appearing to rant to his students over their grades and lack of patriotism.

“I don’t care if you say the pledge, you guys are a bunch of trash Americans anyway,” the teacher says in the video. “None of you even freaking care – none of you care about this country otherwise you would have some patriotism, but you freaking don’t.”

The teacher then refers to some of his students using a slur for mentally handicapped people and claims half of the class is failing.

Phillip McKelvey said his son is one of the students the teacher addresses in the video. As soon as he saw the video, McKelvey said he was upset to see a teacher talking to students in such a manner.

“Really, if I gotta be honest with you, the biggest thing that bothers me is if you want to express your opinion on God and prayer, that’s whatever. I think the kids at that grade level are old enough to accept that and deal with that. But to call them trash Americans and (slurs) – that’s unacceptable,” he said. “You can’t just throw terms like that out so loosely. I’m not okay with that. If the school district is OK with that, I don’t want my kid to be in the school district.”

In a statement to 7NEWS Wednesday night, Spartanburg School District One said it was aware of the video, and as soon as officials were made aware of it, the teacher was placed on administrative leave.

In an updated statement Thursday, the district said the teacher was no longer employed by the school.

“The teacher featured in the video circulating on social media is no longer employed with Spartanburg School District One,” the district said in their statement. “This decision aligns with our commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment for our students and staff. We acknowledge the concerns raised by this incident and extend our sincere apologies to our students, parents, and other staff members.”

“We would like to restate, that the conduct displayed in the video does not reflect the values and standards of our district,” the statement continued.

L. Earl Turner passed away at his beloved rural home, Hillbrook, in Landrum, SC on December 22, 2023.

Born in Clinton, SC on October 13, 1949, he was the son of Esther Inez Phillips Turner and Earl Dorsey Turner. Earl was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leslie Randolph Turner (Cathie).

After graduating from Clinton High School in 1967, Earl served in the U.S. Marine Corps Third Force Service Regiment at Camp Hansen, Okinawa during the Vietnam War. He then earned degrees in English and Comparative Literature from the University of South Carolina in 1974 and 1978. A wanderer and wonderer at heart, Earl traveled the world playing music and sports, writing, and embracing life's hills and valleys; he recorded stories of his journeys in a yet unpublished novel and in many poems and short stories. Earl later put his writing talents to work as an English language instructor at the University of Grenoble in Grenoble, France; an English Composition instructor for the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Semmes; an English teacher in Greenwood and Summerton SC; and a journalist in Clinton, Laurens, and Columbia, SC. He organized the first annual Pride of the Piedmont Pop Jubilee Festival in the early 1980's, bringing musicians like Doc Watson and the Red Clay Ramblers to the town of Laurens, SC. He eventually settled in Columbia, SC in 1991 where he worked at the Department of Health and Environmental Control until the early 2000s. After transitioning to work for the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, he retired in 2010.

Earl had a great love for music. He was a gifted songwriter and musician, writing at least 100 original songs in his lifetime. His first gig came when he was six years old, performing the Elvis classic "Love Me Tender" at the local Moose Lodge with his Dad accompanying him on the piano. He played guitar and harmonica in solo acts throughout the 1970's-1990's and started the original Hummingtree Band in 1986. After a long hiatus, the band reunited in 2010 and played together until their last practice in December of 2023. They have performed 110 shows in 3 states (SC, NC, TN) and their online videos have been viewed over 7000 times. Earl has recorded two solo albums and one with the Hummingtree Band. As band member Randy Wykoff said, "He brought beauty and authenticity to every song and performance. No gimmicks, no tricks, no faux virtuosity. He embodied the Hummingtree Band's motto 'Folk Music for the 21st Century.'"

Earl was a thoughtful, talented, precious man who was forever generous and hospitable to anyone who crossed his path. He was a force of love. He will be remembered for his strength, kindness, humility, positivity, encouragement, love of nature, and generosity. Earl's spirit will be cherished by daughter Kindel Turner Nash (Otha Malik); grandchildren Anisa, Taj, Salim, and Karim Nash; sisters Marsha Turner Zeigler, Laura Anita Turner Bell (William), and Lana Lee Turner McCurry (Chuck); stepdaughters Kim Huffman and Amy Pate; beloved companion Ann Dudley; many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews; and countless lifetime friends and adopted family members, all of whom he adored.

Burial will take place at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 6, 2023 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Landrum. SC. A gathering of family and friends will follow at Bodega Noir, 102 W. Coleman St, Landrum, SC from 1:00 - 3:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, please offer gifts and good deeds to others in tribute to the way Earl devoted himself purely and fully to encouraging others to be their best selves.

Italian food and hospitality come naturally to Brian Frascino, a gift from his Sicilian grandmother and his Italian American upbringing in New York.

His new Landrum deli is a tribute to this heritage, incorporating his grandmother's maiden name of Biazzo as well as traditional and family recipes to offer customers an authentic Italian delicatessen experience.

Biazzo Deli opened last October in the former Mocha’s Mug location on Rutherford Street. Frascino said the storefront was the next evolution of his business. He previously ran Fam Pizza, a Greenville-based pizza food truck.

“We were in here and talking to Denis (Friederich, co-owner of Mocha’s Mug), and I was going to approach him because the place was so large, just to see if he ever wanted to sublet or something like that and then found out he was leaving to his new location," Frascino said of coming to Landrum. "It just kind of organically happened, it wasn't planned or anything. I was hoping to look in this area anyway, and it just kind of worked out.”

Biazzo Deli offers a variety of meats and salads that customers can purchase to take home and a variety of sandwiches that can be eaten in the restaurant or taken to go. Most sandwiches range between $11-13.

An authentic New York-style Italian delicatessen in Spartanburg County

Italian imports — and made-in-house lasagna and meatballs — are the standard at Biazzo Deli.

"We have a full menu of sandwiches, subs, and flat press paninis with Italian meats we've imported or very high-end domestic meats. So it's just like top-of-the-line, really good cold cuts from Italy," Frascino said. "We have a take-and-bake freezer (and) we do lasagnas and frozen meatballs that people can come in and grab on the go, and then we also do fresh stuff in the deli case like salads."

Olives, artichoke hearts, cheeses, and meats like prosciutto, coppa, salami, and pancetta are sold by the pound from their deli case. His Grandmother Biazzo's meatballs are sold fresh or frozen alongside his mother's family's red sauce. Nearby shelves are filled with dry goods imported from Italy.

“There's a little education probably that we're working on, with some of the meats and stuff like that. We’re trying to let everybody taste stuff when they come in if they aren't familiar with the coppa, or a certain type of prosciutto, or some of our cheeses. We definitely interact with customers a lot,” Frascino said.

Some of Biazzo's most popular items include the Nonno, an 8-inch hero with two types of prosciutto, coppa, salami, mortadella, provolone, roasted peppers and arugula, and the Amore panini filled with prosciutto, coppa, roasted peppers, fresh basil, and mozzarella topped with a balsamic glaze.

Vegetarian options include their Caprese sub, fried eggplant caprese salad and their Bella Burger, which sandwiches heirloom tomatoes, basil, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula, and fontina between two roasted portabella mushroom caps.

When and where to visit Biazzo Deli

Biazzo Deli is located at 212 E. Rutherford St. in Landrum. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays and from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Saturdays.
