Ryan is a South Carolinian born and raised, hailing from Florence. He graduated from high school with an International Baccalaureate Diploma and then moved to Columbia to attend the University of South Carolina.
Ryan graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelors of Science in Criminal Justice in 2007. He moved to Charleston to attend the Charleston School of Law. While attending the Charleston School of Law, he was active in many organizations. He served as a Research Editor of the Charleston Law Review, President of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Fraternity, and Vice-President of the Student Bar Association. He earned CALI Awards for Excellence in Contracts, Civil Procedure, First Amendment with a focus on Free Speech, Sports Law, and Advanced Civil Procedure. In his last year of law school, he was recognized with the Michelle Robbins Award which is awarded to students who strive in academic excellence and public service. He graduated Cum Laude in 2013.
After law school, Ryan worked in a well-regarded South Carolina based personal injury firm, where he continued to learn the intricacies of litigation, and tried cases to verdict. In 2014, he was approached by the named partners to join CHSA Law, in which he did and started that summer. In 2018, he was named a Partner of the firm and the head of the Personal Injury and Criminal Defense Division. As head of the Division, Ryan works on a variety of cases involving personal injury, civil litigation, wrongful death, civil rights violations, wrongful arrests, and criminal defense. He has also served as an Adjunct Professor at the Charleston School of Law, teaching first year law students the required Legal, Research, Analysis & Writing Course.
Ryan and his girlfriend, Lee, are the happy parents of their newborn daughter, Amelia, and also their lively dogs, Rudy and Roxie. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, and watching sports.
